So Good to be Girl

When I got home today, I had the best surprise waiting for me! Good to be Girl's Amy, sent out One-Year Bloggiversary gifts to her biggest fans, and of course I had to be on that list! So, I got her gift today.  Isn't it so cute?

Good_to_be_girl_13_5There was some "Dark Side" Dark chocolate m&ms (there are a few missing in the picture!), a very pretty cupcake fizzy (not to be eaten, as Amy pointed out), a gtbg magnet, and an adorable gtbg stitch marker.

Secret Pal 5 Time!!!

I am so excited!!  We got assigned our secret pals today!!  FUN TIMES!!!  I really need to do my questionnaire...I will get to it tonight, I swear!

<<Edit: You can find my Secret Pal Q&As on my About Me page>>

On an unrelated note...clearly it's raining in Hoboken today because my Weather Pixie has on her 'Mom Jeans' and a very rainbow umbrella....not that there's anything wrong with that. I don't judge.  But seriously folks, I think I'm over the Weather Pixie...she doesn't work most of the time, and when she does work, she tells me it's raining outside. Maybe I should post the weather for Hawaii instead?

Cute-ness

Look at my cute header!!!!!  No, Kenna never did make one for me (she still doesn't have Internet at home!) so Missa made one for me!!!  I LOVE it!!! I highly recommend her!  She Rocks!  Yeah! I even have a cute little button that I hope to see on each of your blogs (that's not too much to ask, is it??  He He!)

Now, here are some pictures I owe you....

Dad_family_1 Believe it or not, this is the latest picture I have of Bobby (my Daddio) and it was taken at my cousin's wedding 5 years ago.  This is me with B-O-B, my step-mom Nita (who had a really painful surgery yesterday- feel better Nita!), and her three kids, Amy, Jeramie, and Jason.  Please take note of my lovely (hideous) navy (in July), polyester, bridesmaid dress with sleeves that wouldn't let any of us raise our arms more than 1 inch.

Bridesmaid_after_2 For your viewing pleasure, here's a picture of what we did to those incredibly uncomfortable bridesmaid dresses at the reception (Yes, I said AT the reception):

As you may have guessed, that was no regular reception. We were at the Elks Club. In da U.P.  Note the fabulous half-yard of something on the table on the right (next to a bunch of plastic cups that I can only assume held more of that fabulous something), and my cousin Lisa cutting off a good portion of the bottom of my dress (Hey- I asked the bride first!).  My pantyhose came off immediately after that, and I was told that I might have had a little too much fun that night...but I think it was just the right amount of FUN!

Suzie_markers_3_4

Another picture I owe you is one of the very adorable stitch markers that Suzie sent to me last week! And I LOVE Red! They are perfect!! I took the picture on the very cute Knitting card she sent with them!

I'm not going to show you the stupid Ruffles pictures though...I'll have to save that sordid story until tomorrow. Instead, here's a couple pictures of Gizmo....eating an apple core! I guess it's better than all that junk food! Crazy dog!!!!

Googlisms

I just discovered Googlisms.  Check it out. This is what it says about me (among other things):

"danielle is a sassy little 13 3/4" sable & white bitch who thinks that everyone should stop and pet her"

So true.

Happy Birthday Dad!!

My Dad is 50 Years Old!!!!!  50 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!! I've always thought my parents were young, but now that my Dad is Freaking Fifty (!) he's an OLD man! He got his AARP card today!!!  What the hell?!?!?*  (In all of this is a "Happy Birthday" wish for good ole' B-O-B!) I'll have to add a picture later...I'm too lazy today to simply plug in my scanner to my computer.

Another picture I have to add is one of the adorable Stitch Markers I got from Suzie last week.  I've really really been meaning to add that picture for a week now (I'm so sorry Suzie)...I love them!!! She is such a GREAT person!

Another yet picture I'll have to add (but I'm too lazy to whip out my digital camera) is my progress on Ruffles...Yeah!  (I know, I know, you've  already heard ENOUGH about Ruffles.  Well, if you want to read about someone who starts 30 projects at once, and gets them done in less time than it take me to post, go see this diva or this one or this one. Or if you want to read about someone who knits practically one amazing knit per day go see this chic. OR even better, if you want to read about someone who knits for charity, go see her (Yep- Suzie again!). I'm barely making it home from work to sit on my couch NEXT to Ruffles, let along make any progress!  Give me a break, Man! But I digress...)

So, as I was saying, "Yeah! I made progress on Ruffles!!!" Well, don't jump for joy just yet.  I was knitting on Sunday evening, and the phone rang. I thought, "Well, I know this pattern, I have it memorized. I can talk and knit at the same time..." I was wrong. Now it's f'ed up AGAIN!!!  This time I'm going to try to save it. I AM not going to try to save it! I AM going to take it my LYS and see if SHE can help me fix it. We'll see.

Hell.  Maybe I should just give up this new hobby of mine!!!

Wait...I almost forgot to mention! I am one of the lucky few who got a membership to the Sampler today!  I love free crap! Well...not free, but practically free!  I decided to join for 3 months instead of just 1.  FUN!

* I did not intend to offend anyone who is of the >50 age range. This was specific to my Dad. Not everyone who is 50 is old. I swear.

Knitting ADD=Saddness

I'm sad. I jumped back on the knitting horse today while I watching a Jude Law marathon On Demand (Alphie & I Heart Huckabees).  I picked up Ruffles, and got through about 3 or 4 pattern repetitions (it doesn't seem like much but Man, I'm slow!)...and then it happened.  I dropped a stitch!  And then I tried to fix it but it just got worse.  Look!

Frog_ruffles_4_sized_5805

It just got worse and worse and worse. My problem is that I get sidetracked easily and then I lose my place and the whole thing gets F'ed up.  I thought maybe I could pretend I didn't screw up in this case, but I just couldn't regain my composure.....

Frog_ruffles_3_sized_5805

....so I had to frog my Ruffles butt (doesn't it look like a butt in this picture?) and start over.  So my yarn is all wound up and ready for me to get started again. I will pick it back up later......Raspberry Sherbet is calling my name.  (Raspberry candy is sitting on my coffee table too...I love Raspberries!)

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mother's Day Mom & Gramma!!!!

Family_5

I love you!!!

"Stitch-Marker-Mom Day"

Guess what!  I finished my very first knitting project!!!  Well...it's knitting related anyway. I finished my stitch markers for Cara's Stitch Marker and they were so much fun!  In fact, I couldn't stop at just 4 so I made 4 more!  I hope my Bead-It Bead-ee likes them as much as I had fun making them! I got them in the mail today so she should get them early next week.  FUN!

I almost forgot!  I finally opened my digital camera...and took some pictures!  Can you believe it?!?!  I took about 40 pictures of the stitch markers...I'm like a proud mom (Happy Stitch-Markers-Mom Day to me!). I won't force you to watch the slides of me and my Stitch Markers on our backpacking vacation through the Poconos, but here are a few portraits I took earlier today.

We took a few "posed" shots...

Dscn0018_sized_2 (Aren't they purty?)

Dscn0021_sized_2 (Blue-on-Blue background...classy!)

And I also caught them while they were more relaxed...

Dscn0031_sized_1 (Things are gettin' craaaazy here!)

They are very photogenic, are they not?

When I sent them out today to my Bead-ee I only shed one tear.  I know they are going to a very good home.

I know I really should end on that high-note, but I thought I should let you know that my Saturn is again rollin' down the street.  Turns out I had a screw in my tire, and all the car dude needed to do was perform a small screw-ectomy and patch it up with what I thought looked like Liquid Bandage and I was on my way!  Yeah me!

One last thing- Mom- Happy Mother's Day! I love you!

The Planets do not Align

Earth and Saturn do not get along very well.  Today at about noon, I got a call that went like this: "Hi Danielle.  You should know that your rear passenger tire is flat.  You better do something about that."  Then I said, "Shit.  That damn Saturn!"  One of my coworkers was kind enough to put my spare on for me. Why the hell didn't I get AAA last week when all that other shit went down with my car?!?  Don't worry.  I'm a full fledged member of the Northern New Jersey AAA Auto Club now. And tomorrow I throw more money into that piece of shit!

But guess what!  I went to the store today to buy materials for my Bead-It Buddy.  That's the only news I have about that...because the Michaels in Berkeley Heights sucks!!!!!  Alcoholic Wednesdays got canceled tonight, so I'm going to track down some other craft store, and then it's Workshop Wednesdays (Resume and job search time).
