Choppin Broccoli...and then picking it up off the floor...

Vidalia_2 Good God I so want the Vidalia Chop Wizard! I mean you can chop AND you can measure! And the special TV price is only $19.99! But wait there's more! You also get the fine dicer blade for FREE (just pay shipping & handling)! Wow what a bargain!

.

.

Carpet_flick I also soo want the Swiffer Carpet Flick! But the thing is, I don't have any carpet! I wonder if this will work on hardwood/tile floors? Or is there a different Swiffer product I should get? I, of course, have the regular Swiffer already, but I have to use bleach spray to actually clean the floors. There's got to be another product (Swiffer or other) that works better (outside of the regular mop and bucket.

Does it really work?

Spam_1 What I want to know is, who are the people who actually click on the links in spam email? I mean, is the return really that high that people actually depend solely on spamming as a marketing technique? I didn't like the canned crap as a kid, and I hate the email version even more!

My blog isn't cool enough to get spam  comments, but I will tell ya, I get spam email like crazy! I mean, sure, the junk mail box is constantly full, but I get AT LEAST 100 spams in my Inbox daily! It's such a mean joke when I see that I have 25 emails and 23 of them are Spam and the other two are from Yahoo Groups or a stupid forward! Back in the day when I first had email at IU there was no such thing as spam! I miss those days! But then again, there was no such thing as cool HTML-based emails either. I guess I'll take pretty emails over meaningful emails!

But all this makes me think. What does Hormel think of the entire world calling junk mail "spam"? Maybe more Spam has been sold as a result of this? Further, does Hormel send spam emails?

Two Thoughts

One reason I can't wait to move out of here is because one of my lanlords ('N') chain smokes Marlbro Reds and she sits on the front porch so the smell seeps into my livingroom or she sits in the back yard so the smell seeps into my bedroom. Hell, even when she smokes in their apartment upstairs the nasty ass smell seeps through my ceiling into my entire apartment! And this JUST occurred to me! Her partner ('D') had a baby a few months ago. Not to mention, N is pregnant and due in September (don't ask, their situation is a very very strange one).  Hopefully all the smoke doesn't affect either of the babies (especially since N has smoked all through her pregnancy!).

OK, that was my rant.

Here's something mad cool! I've been hearing about this Diet Coke + Mentos thing, but I just found the video on Boing Boing.

I have a case of diet coke in the fridge...all I need are the Mentos!

Packing Sucks!

So in a few weeks I'm moving to Jersey City. Kinda the ghetto of Jersey City. But the apartment is beautiful and the neighborhood is on its way up! I found the place on Craig's List and and for once the ad was true to the actual apartent. The owner is a realtor in the City, and he gutted out the enire brownstone and split it into three apartments. I'll be living on the main floor and the apartment is more than twice the size of the place I'm living in now! And I really like the people that live on the first and third floors! Check out these photos! It's just too bad the pretty dalmation doesn't come with the place :)

My Mission!

Strongbowo_3B_strongbow Anyone know where I can buy Strongbow Cider in NYC or in Jersey? My brother got me craving this crap and now I can't get it out of my brain! I looked online briefly but couldn't find a place that will ship it for a low price. I would much rather find a place locally that I can just buy it from whenever I want! This craving just might kill me!

Yummy! Men and women like this junk!

They're going to the chapel...er...country club..

So also while away last week, I was the Maid of Honor for Patricia and Matt when they got hitched on Saturday in Louisville! The ceremony and the reception could not have gone any better! The Louisville Country Club was gorgeous, the food was fantastic and the bride was beautiful! Not to mention, Matt got a special surprise from Don Mattingly, the hitting coach for the Yankees, which I think almost gave his dad a stroke!

Group_before_wedding_2I can't wait to see all the pictures!  In the meantime Janie (Patricia's mom) sent me this picture today.  You can see that one of the sisters of the groom (Alyssa) and the Matron of Honor (Kellie) are both pregos! They both held out all day though! We decided that their little babies are going to get married one day! ;)

And now Patricia and Matt are on their way to Hawaii for 10 days! They deserve it after all the planning and stress! But that doesn't stop me from being jealous! I want to go to Hawaii! Aahhh, my day will come! HA!

So today you get to view a wedding montage from my currently favorite soap opera (that I had to stop watching cause I was getting too wrapped up in it!). So as they say, you are cordially invited to the wedding of Luke and Laura Spencer and to their son Lucky's wedding to Elizabeth Webber. (pass me the tissues...sniff)

(Oh, and by the way, in the picture Patricia has her dress flipped up over the back of the chair. Her ass isn't that big!)

Here I am!

I'm back from my long week off! I had a great time in the U.P. with the fam! I went pontooning, saw some fireworks, ate some GREAT food and collected some iron ore pellets. I was trying to figure out what to bring back as souvenirs for my work peeps and I came up with two different things. I decided to go with the Pastie magnets and recipe postcards. And no, this is not something that strippers use to cover there tatas. That's a much different and somewhat inappropriate souvenir!

So, what's a pasty you're wondering...well it's only the best food in the world! (Well, second to Congress pizza in Ishpeming, MI...and white cheese dip...and my mom's red velvet cake.) Here's a recipe if you want to try to make it yourself, but I must warn you, the crust is very very difficult to make!

Up_pasty_4U.P. Pasty       (makes 3 smallish pasties)

1.   To make crust, mix together:

–   1 ¼ C flour

–   ½ C Crisco

Add 5 Tbsp COLD water.  This should be pliable to work with; if it seems too crumbly add a little more water until it is easy to work with. But the water must be very cold!

2.   To make filling, mix together (all vegetables should be peeled and shredded with food processor or hand-crank-grinder-thing like my gramma still does):

–   ½ lb hamburger

–   2 medium potatoes

–   1 carrot

–   ¼ of a small rutabaga (optional, or extra potato)

–   ½ small onion

–   Lots of salt and pepper (potato will suck up the salt so don't skimp on on the salt)

3.   Roll out the crust like for a pie crust and put filling on one side and top with ~1 Tbsp of butter in center. Fold over and seal the edges. Put on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake 400° for 1 hour or until lightly brown.

4.   You've worked hard, and probably cried a little when making the crust so ENJOY!

Tips for the crust: My gramma said that when she rolls out the dough she uses lots of flour on the surface she’s rolling on and the rolling pin. The crust should be completely sealed with no holes. If your crust gets a little split take a small piece of the crust and dip it into water and place over the split and press it down on the sides to seal it.

Also, if you make more you can freeze them after baking in tin foil.  To bake frozen ones, open foil and bake at 400° for about 45 mins to an hour.  They taste just like fresh made.

This is making me hungry!

FLASHBACK! I thought this was appropriate for the cooking theme!

Back after these messages...

Just wanted to leave a note that I'm not slacking again! I swear! But I am on a Midwest traveling spree so I might not post for a week or so. I'm currently in da U.P and if you know where that is, you must be a Yooper!

So, to celebrate the Yooperness, here's a quite different BLAST for your enjoyment!!

Happy 4th Everyone!!
