I am so excited to participate in Secret Pal 10! The last time I participated, I made a great friend in Annie an Australian who I'm very jealous of right now since it's summer right now! Here's my questionnaire for the new swap!
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I don't treat myself to really nice yarn often, but I refuse to knit with acrylic...it's just not the same as wool and cotton...but of course, you already knew that :)
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? A Tupperware container! I wish I had a nice circular needle roll though (Hint Hint...heehee)
3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I have been knitting for a few years now but I haven't ventured away from scarves. I mean, I've knitted "fancy" scarves and washcloths but nothing beyond that.
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? I sure do! My Amazon book list is here
5. What's your favorite scent? I heart lavender and apple scents! I don't like really flowery or any thing toooo fruity. It's kinda odd that I like apple as much as I do
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? DUH! I actually love salty just as much! I don't know what I like the most...In general I like minty things and chocolate and ANYTHING raspberry!
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? I like anything crafty....except painting. I don't have the patience for painting. But I've crafted just about everything else. I don't spin...yet. I really really want to start needle felting though! I tried to teach myself to crochet a few times but I just don't get it! I am a very visual person...I learned to knit by using the videos on knittinghelp.com. Oh, another thing I want to learn is sewing! I even bought a sewing machine on CraigsList, but I haven't used it yet.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I do love all kinds of music....except maybe techno...or the stuff my grandparents listen too. I miss having a country station in NYC...although I rarely listen to the radio since I'm never in the car. I also have an iPod.
9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand? I wear a lot of red and black. But I love really pretty blues and pinks as well. Actually, there really isn't a color I don't like except puke green
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I am single with my two "kids" Gizmo and Perry. Gizmo is my baby and Perry joined my little family about 6 months ago. And he's cuddling on my lap right now :)
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? I love scarves and mittens. Sometimes I wear ponchos, but I never wear hats
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? All I really knit is scarves, but I really really want to expand that into sweaters and especially socks. I want to take a class to learn how to go the next step beyond fancy rectangles!
13. What are you knitting right now? A Christmas present for next year....it's a scarf. I'm a really really slow knitter. A few years ago (right after I started knitting) I decided I would make scarves for my entire family that year. That didn't work so much. So far I've given out four. In total. I have like 6-8 more to go. I figure I'll be done in like 2010
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? I LOVE handmade gifts!
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? Definitely Circular. I really want to buy the Knitpicks Options set I just haven't gotten around to doing it. I just got my Knitpicks in the mail!! Yeah!
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? I do have both of them...I've had them for a couple years and I still haven't used them!
17. How old is your oldest UFO? About 3 years old!
18. What is your favorite holiday? Definitely Christmas!
19. Is there anything that you collect? I try to stay away from collections...I do love books and it seems my magazine collection is getting bigger and bigger
20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I have a bajillion books on my Amazon wish list. And I subscribe to (oh boy) Domino, Real Simple, Everyday with Rachael Ray, Craft (LOVE IT), Creative Knitting, Cutting Edge, Knit1....I think that's it! I know...TERRIBLE!
21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? Sock Knitting and Needle Felting are at the top of my list right now!
22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? Nope...but I wear a size 7.5 shoe!
