Sewing Help Needed!!

So remember when I was asking what Sewing Machine I should buy way back when? Well I bought one off of eBay quite a while ago...and for the life of me I can't figure out how to use it! I downloaded the manual from Singer, and I bought a few "how-to-sew" books but I am a much more hands-on learner and I've made no progress. Well I should admit that I've never actually tried to figure it out either. I just want someone to come over and show me what to do!!!

I've posted a Help Wanted ad on a few different online forums, so I hope someone comes to my rescue! (Craftster; GetCrafty; Craigslist)

Oh and I thought I should share with those of you who actually read this blog that someone found my site by searching on German Google for "Danielle Shits". And my site was the first to pop up. What the?

Stupid "Gotta-Make-Money" Job

Stupid work. I'm having a hard time figuring out what to be when I grow up. I'm thinking Crack Ho. Or Baby Daddy.

Please. I need suggestions. Help.

Dear Secret Rowan:

Dscn0334_2Dscn0348_3 You are the best Secret Pal ever! Not only did my swappee get the package I sent to her last week, but I also got an awesome package from you! Oh Secret Rowan, you really know me so well! Since I work on 5th Avenue in NYC, the card you sent was perfect! How cute is this...and of course I will have to try this tasty looking beverage very soon!

Dscn0352 Not to mention, the sock yarn you sent to me! This is the the very first sock yarn that I have ever owned! I suppose I'm just going to have to just get over my aversion to sock knitting.  It's Schoeller/Stahl Fortissima Socka and I love the colors! Look at the 6531 colorway...isn't it so purty? Now I just need to figure out what pattern to knit!

Of course I should also mention the adorable stitch markers you made for me (pictured with the fabulous sock yarn)...I can't believe they are the first markers you've ever made! They are fantastic! I can use them, in addition to the perfect Tipsy Knitter Sock Bag you sent to me! I love it! And I am always on the lookout for cute, handy knitting bags (which is why I've spent many dollars at Piddleloop)!

Dscn0346And I love the magnetic paper pad and mini composition book (both pictured in the group photo above)! I love magnetic pads...I use them all over my house and office. And the composition book is perfect to keep all my knitting notes...especially when I attempt to knit on my commute! The Dogbone Art button is so cute...I will have to find a fun place to put it. Hey! How about on my Sock Bag.

Dscn0335 And the piece de resistance...the Rowan yarn! Now, I don't need to explain this to you, but Rowan yarn is so fantastic! And I love the chunky print cause it knits up soo stinkin fast! With three yarns of this stuff (in Swizzle), I can really knit up something awesome. Did you have a pattern in mind when you sent it to me?

So, all-in-all, you rock Secret Rowan! Thank you so much for everything!!! You really are THE BEST!!!

I'm off to watch "Rock Star" on VH1 now...I mean how can I say no to Marky Mark?

Your swapee, Danielle

p.s. For shits and giggles go to Google maps and in the Directions section type in From "New York" To "London".  Look at #23. Is that really the best option?

p.s.s I love my Gay Son Gizmo and his cat Perry Bears

Funny Search

Somebody was searching for my blog by typing in "Perry Gizmo color".  Reveal yourself whoever you are!!!

SP10 Rocks!

I am having so much fun with SP10 this year! I sent out my first package over the weekend, and my Gifter (I call her "Rowan") said she sent out her first gift to me yesterday as well! I can't tell if I like the giving or the receiving better! But I will be watching my mailbox like a hawk! :)

I sent a little sumpin sumpin to my SP10 Group Moderator Robin just to thank her for all her hard work! She's a super-sweater-knitter so I passed along the Very Easy Knits Vogue book so she can add to her collection! I made a couple other things as well, but I don't want to give myself away to my swapee, so you'll just have to wait to find out!

I Actually DO Craft!

So, the thing is, most of the stuff that I knit and craft are gifts for other people...people that might be reading my blog. So I rarely post about the stuff I'm making. For example, all weekend I worked on making this bracelet for my Secret Pal...which might seem odd since SP is a knitting thing, but this was a lot faster to make. After all, I am still knitting Christmas gifts for 2 years ago!

So the bracelet, I finished it, and it was a pain in the ass. It wasn't difficult but adding those damned beads to the outside edge were NOT fun!

Oh, and I decided to go to some LYS's* (that's plural) on Saturday. But to appreciate this you need the entire story.

So, I got a gift certificate a couple months ago to go to Mario Badescu spa...which I HIGHLY recommend (they are famous for their facials but I can't go to a spa and NOT get a massage)! I had to book it way in advance, so yesterday was THE day. I got the BEST facial and massage I've ever had ever ever. The massage was odd, but effective. She used her knees. Yeah. Odd, right? And I got suckered into about 100 bucks of products. But I digress.

Since I was in NYC anyway, I decided it was a good time to visit the yarn stores I've heard so much about but have never been to. I walked around, went to a couple stores, and didn't buy a damned thing. So, it was time to head home.

So, I started walking in the general direction I THOUGHT I needed to go to get home. So, long story short, I got LOST. Walking around for hours lost. And All of a sudden I was surrounded by over 100 fire- and policemen wandering around. Talk about eye candy! So I thought, well I'll ask these guys where I need to go.  As I started walking towards the eye candy, I realized that I was about to cross police lines. But I didn't think anything about it. So I ask like 3 different people how to get where I need to go, and they all send me in different directions. OK, so keep in mind that I hadn't even yet questioned why so many uniformed men were around. I just accepted it as part of New York.

So finally, I realize no one is sending me in the right direction and I stop walking. I turn around and realize THAT A BUILDING HAD COLLAPSED! I mean, seriously, at one point I was annoyed cause there was police tape up blocking the sidewalk. Come on Danielle, get your head out of your ass! The police tape was up because A BUILDING HAD COLLAPSED!!! It must have happened JUST before I got there. Such a dumbass.

What's really strange is that I can't find any details about in online. I guess that's just part of normal life in New York? Kind of like the gun shots I heard a couple weeks ago. That just happens every day in the ghetto.

*By the way, I didn't buy anything at the LYS's. Nothing. However, I did discover that I have a couple of favorite yarns. (See Robin!) I love Cascade 220 because it's so easy to knit with...it seems to just melt through my hands like buttah. And it felts SO well! I've made Ruffles from Scarf Style with it, I'm making a couple Christmas gifts with it now (yeah...the ones that I should've done 2 years ago) and I've made the Buttonhole bag with it.

Yarns that I don't like...anything that squeeks when you knit with it. I can't think of specific yarns though...I guess acrylic in general.

I found some great yarn at Purl yesterday, but it was $40 a skein! Yowzers! But man did that silk feel nice! Ah, maybe someday...when I become a rich soccer mom.  :)
